*ARCHIVE* - BIA Update 32 - Consultation: Building Code Clause B1 Structure 12 Jul 2004

On 30 June 2004 the BIA released for public comment proposed changes to Verification Method B1/VM1 - Structure. The proposals cite recent amendments to NZS 3101 and NZS 3109 in the Verification Method, with some modifications.

The Verification Method provides approved means of checking that the design of structures complies with the Building Code, largely by citing New Zealand Standards. In this case, the amendment relates to concrete work.

The BIA is now seeking public comment on the changes before finalising amendments to B1/VM1. The consultation document can be downloaded from Consulting on or is available in hard copy from the BIA by calling 0800 242 243.

The closing date for comment is Friday, 23 July 2004. (Note: The amendments to the Standards were themselves subject to the normal Standards New Zealand public comment process before being adopted in March 2004.)
