How was the Building Act review carried out?
The Building Act review was conducted by the Department of Building and Housing (which was merged into the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment in July 2012) with input and advice from a Sector Reference Group. A discussion document was issued in February 2010 and an extensive public consultation process followed with meetings held across the country and attended by more than 1,000 people spanning building profession and trades, consumers and local authorities. More than 380 written submissions were also received.
