Latest BCA registration ceremony

On Wednesday 8 August 2008, the Department held a building consent authority registration ceremony and celebratory lunch to mark an important milestone for a number of councils that have recently become accredited and registered as building consent authorities under the Building Act 2004.

This event was attended by the following councils: Far North District, Kaipara District, Mackenzie District, Manukau City, South Wairarapa District, Tararua District, Tasman District, Thames-Coromandel District, Upper Hutt City, Waipa District, Waitaki District, Wanganui District Council.

As at 21 August 2008, 58 territorial and regional authorities had been accredited and registered as building consent authorities. A further 17 are in their final stages and are working on their corrective actions.
