Are you using the new Tenancy Tribunal application forms?

We’ve changed our forms to make it easier for tenants and landlords to make an application to the Tenancy Tribunal.

If a tenant and landlord have a problem they can’t resolve, either party can make an application to the Tenancy Tribunal. Once an application is lodged, Tenancy Services staff will try to set up mediation to work out a solution.

There are two new forms – a teal form for landlords and a grey form for tenants. The new forms are easy to fill out and include clear instructions.

The new forms replaced the old forms on June 19. From now on only applications on the new forms can be accepted.

If you want a copy of our new forms call 0800 TENANCY (0800 83 62 62) or pick one up from any of our offices.

The forms have changed, but the method of payment is still the same. You can pay by:

  • payment stickers available from the Department of Building and Housing. (If you’ve already put stickers on your old blank forms just send them to us and we’ll replace them with new forms with stickers)
  • paying at a Westpac branch by eftpos, cheque or cash
  • eftpos at some offices

Once payment is made please post the new forms to PO Box 50 546 Porirua or fax to (040 237 1058).

For more information contact 0800 83 62 62.

The new application forms are part of a package of changes which will help landlords and tenants access dispute resolution services in the way that best suits them. These include extended hours for phone advice, more places to access face to face services by appointment, the ability to make an application online and pay by credit card and a new service to resolve simple disputes within 24 hours through phone mediation. These changes will be introduced gradually during the next few months.
