How to search for a licensed building practitioner

To find a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) ask yourself these questions and take the steps that follow.

1.  Where is your building work required to be done?

Enter City into the 'Town/City' box. 

2. Who do you require?

Builder or Project Manager = 'Site' licence class
Carpenter = 'Carpentry' licence class
Designer = 'Design' licence Class

Enter your choice into the 'licence class' box.

3. Click 'search'.

Registered Architects and Chartered Professional Engineers will not appear on this register

Under section 219 (2) of the Building Act 2004, Registered Architects and Chartered Professional Engineers are treated as if they are licensed in the Design 3 class. They will not show on the Licensed Building Practitioner Register as they appear on the registers of their own registration schemes.
