Consultation on changes to Compliance Document B1 Structure to cite NZS 4230:2004

The Department of Building and Housing is proposing to amend the Compliance Document for Building Code Clause B1 Structure by referencing the new New Zealand Standard, NZS 4230:2004, ‘Design of Reinforced Concrete Masonry Structures’ with Amendment No. 1 in place of NZS 4230:1990.

The new Standard would be referenced as part of Verification Method B1/VM in the Compliance Document.

The new Standard, with its Amendment, reflects upgraded material properties of both concrete masonry and reinforcing steel and aligns with the AS/NZS 1170 suite of Structural Action Standards.

The Department welcomes submissions and comments on these proposals.  The consultation closes on 3 April 2007.
