Non-residential building

Updated : 10 November 2009

Value of non-residential building work are recording lower levels in the June quarter

The total unadjusted value of non-residential building work put in place for the June 2009 year was $5.314 billion; a 4.9 percent increase from the previous June year. However, when adjusted for inflation, the trend value declined consecutively in the March and the June 2009 quarters.

The issuing of non-residential building consents provides an indication of future levels of non-residential building work.  A total of $4.533 billion worth of non-residential building consents were issued in the year ended September 2009, which is at a similar level compared to $4.531 billion in the year ended September 2008.

Note: The trend for the value of non-residential building consents is currently being reviewed by Statistics New Zealand and this information will not be available for now.
